Joining: Tag Spidey - But open to all
Location: The middle of New York City
Time: Night
Recap: Arana goes for a swing around the city to clear her head after the announcement of the accident at Stamford
Warnings: None

Anya leaped off the building she was sitting on, snagging a flagpole with her bolas and swinging by it, before throwing the other, continuing this way until she was swinging just above the pavement. Looking down, she saw mother hurrying out of the way with their babies as if she was some kind of monster. She frowned but swung a little higher. Suddenly, a rock went whizzing past her head and she pulled up, balancing on a lamp-post.  Looking down she saw a group of about four angry men, brandishing baseball bats and crowbars.

"Hey! What's the big idea?! Trying to swing here!"  She shouted at them.

'Go to hell, where you belong, just like your "Teen Saviors," freak!' They shouted back, lobbing rocks and cans, and pretty much anything throwable at her.

She knocked them all away before jumping up and swinging out of range, jumping high and throwing a double salto, before landing lightly on a rooftop. She pulled off her goggles and shook her head. It was starting already.

Peter was crouching on one of his favorite gargoyles. Bruce didn't seem to mind, he was the silent type. People down on the ground seemed to be quiet, looking up every once and a while, but Peter knew he was out of sight. His spidersense would warn him if something was wrong.
Anya was swinging again, just taking out the stress with the motions, when she spotted him crouched on top of the carving. With a flick of her wrist, she retracted her bolas and landed lightly behind him.

"Hey Spidey. Got some time for a little wannabe?"
Peter had sensed her coming, but he didn't mind a friendly face.

"I always have time for fellow friends of the spider." he said with a laugh.
She grins, pulling up her goggles. "Hey, us disciples of the Great Weaver gotta stick together, right?"

With a laugh, she plops down beside him. "So what're you doing out so late?won't your family be worrying about you?"
"Nah, they're used to my nighttime meanderings."

Peter flipped over and let himself hang down his web for a second before swinging over to the next gargoyle.

"Anya..." he hesitated a second. "You know that if you're in a situation that's over your head, that you can always come to me for help right? That it's no shame to ask for help."

He tried to find the words, thinking of himself at her age, knowing he'd be a hypocrite to ask her to stop, yet worried, so worried that she could get in trouble. Things had been so much easier in the old days. Oh there was dangers and menaces and all kinds of threats, but it seemed like all of that had increased with every year. The bad guys seemed to grow more vicious, more powerful... what if she ...

He had a responsibility. He knew that, but did he have a right.

"I'm always here for you, I'd want you to know that."
"I'm still trying to tell my dad." She smiles, pulling her knees up in front of her and staring at the people walking past below them.

There's a slight smile at that. "Thanks, Spidey. It's nice to know there's someone out there who wants to help. S'not gonna be easy being a superhuman after this."

She just shrugs, things had always been hard. This would just make them a little harder, but she was used to it.

She nods. "I know."
"We'll just have to deal." He heard the sound of a siren, then two, sounded serious.
"Got to go."

((no reason of course that Anya can't come along*g*))
"I'm coming! Go go go!" She pulls her goggles down, twirling her bolas.
Peter arrived first. He landed on one of the buildings and realized all too soon what the problem was. Fireworkers and policemen alike were pulling people out of a building, one of those condemned places that was just about ready to collapse, yet that for one reason or another had been allowed to stay around. Normally nobody was supposed to be in there, but with the state of the city as it were, it had been filled with all sorts of people, families even, desperately looking for a roof over their head.

He jumped right into the building and started to help the rescue workers. He couldn't see Arana, too busy on his work, when he realized something.
His spidersense was coming off full force. From downstairs. He pulled one last kid out with him and jumped through the window. Letting go of the kid he only looked for one second and made a split second decision. Holding up one side, just in time before it collapsed, taking the rest of the building with it. And there were still people inside.
Anya swung down by a lamppost, smashing through a first floor window and landing in a crouch. The room was dim, and dust choked the air. She called out her carapace, and began searching. She heard voices from an adjoining room, and kicked the door in, her eyes scanning the place for occupants.

"Is anyone in here?!" She shouted.

'O-over h-here. Help us..p-please.' Jumping toward the voice, she saw a woman clutching her baby.

"Come with me ma'am. We'll get you out of here." The woman recoiled scared of the carapace's appearance, but she reached out and took the offered claw.

Not wasting another moment, Anya spead off through the building, scanning each room as best as she could, pulling the woman along behind her. Just as they reached an exit, a great slab of concrete fell through the ceiling, straight above the woman. Moving on instinct, Anya jumped, pushed her out of the way, and caught the debris, knees absorbing all the shock as she gritted her teeth against the jolt.

"Go! Get out of here!" The woman ran and Anya hurled the clab away, diving back into the dust to look for more survivors.
The strain was getting to him, this building wasn't half as high as the Bugle building had been a few years ago, but still, this wasn't something he wanted to do too often. He needed something for support, but what...

Too much, his spidersense was warning him of the danger above him. God please tell me when I can move. He started forming a web to the pillar above him, letting the vibrations course through it, all to get a feeling of how many people were still above him. Too many to let go now.
Anya ran through the shattered corridors, shouting out to the people in the rooms to get outside, come toward her voice. In a moment, there were about a dozen people, all looking scared, all looking at her as if she was some sort of nightmare.

"Is this everyone?!" She shouted to them.

'T-there's J-Jimmy. H-he lives on the top floor.' She nodded, throwing her bolas through a window, it wrapped around a lamppost and she pulled it taut, throwing the rope out the window as well. She repeated the action with her second bolas before turning to them.

"Alright! Use those to get to the ground. Then get away from the building! Those who can climb help those who can't. Move now!" They all nodded and scrambled for the lines. She looked around the collapsing building, running toward a flight of stairs.

Hang on Spidey, just a little while longer...

Peter could feel the heat of the fires around him, he was almost blinded by the lights surrounding the area, giving people a direction to head to safety.
Anya kicked in a section of wall and saw Jimmy. She grabbed him and leaped out a shattered window. Curling around him and landing lightly on the ground, letting him go.

"Go find your mom, kid."
Johnny was flying overhead, blowing off some steam, when he too heard distant sirens. It took him just a moment to look around and see the tell-tale rising column of smoke way on the other side of town.

Peter was already on the scene when Johnny arrived. He saw his friend as he went back into the burning building, and his eyes widened. Spiderman was many things, but flameproof he wasn't. He followed him in and almost called out to Peter, but he didn't want to distract him in this situation. However, seeing the inferno around them, he used his power to quench the worst of the flames.

It was one of the latest tricks Reed had figured Johnny might be able to do. Since he could affect ambient temperature one way, he realized the opposite applied as well. It felt to him as if he was calling the flames to him and away from the area surrounding Peter.
Peter could feel the heat pulling away from him, he looked up and saw Johnny flying there. Thank God, they might actually make it now.
Anya jumped back in, running toward Spidey. "Spidey, get out, now! The whole building's coming down!" Her carapace formed as she ran, wrapping her entire body in its hard shell.
Peter had just about been ready to try and get away when his spidersense flared up, he could hear Arana yelling at him and looked up, realizing that there was almost no time left. He managed to make one last huge push up.

He had to help the kid get out, before they were both dead.

He quickly sprayed a few last bits of webbing, anything to give him a few more seconds and jumped as far as he could, desperate to push Arana out along with him.

[[ooc: hi! and johnny will see anya in his next tag. i'm playing it like they haven't met yet in this verse, if that's cool with you! :D ]]
((No problem!))
Johnny had taken it upon himself to make sure the fire didn't spread, funneling it carefully upwards into the sky where it soon petered out as the air thinned and it ran out of fuel to burn.

He came back down and landed next to Peter and the girl with the wicked looking armor. "You guys okay? Did everyone get out?" he asked Peter while eyeing Anya carefully and trying to think if he'd ever seen her before. "I don't think I know you," he said in a friendly tone.
"Her name's Arana, she's allright."

He tried to push together the ends and bits of his mask, dabbing some soot out of the hair sticking through.

He looked back on to the building, staring at the wreckage.

"God..."
She looked over at Johnny, he was kinda cute, in a flaming guy sorta way. "Hey. It's Arana. Human Torch, right?" She grinned.

She follwed Pete's gaze and looked at the rubble. "Geez. I hope we got everyone out." At that moment, a rock slammed into the back of her head, the only thing stopping it from cracking her skull was the timely intervention of her carapace. She whilred on the crowd. "Hey! What's the big idea! We just saved you people!"

'Whatcha gonne do, freak? Blow us up, like those people in Stamford!?' More rocks came whizzing past them.

"Spidey, Torch...this is getting ugly."
Johnny flamed off while he looked Peter over and frowned at the poor condition of his costume. He turned towards Anya as he spoke.

"Yeah, that's m... Watch out!" Johnny cried out, but he was too late to stop the rock. "Flame on!" he said harshly, and he burst into a bright flame that rounded on the crowd furiously. He was still a hothead, older or not.

"That's so not fair," he yelled and made a fiery shield that caught the next barrage of thrown objects. He couldn't believe what was happening. He knew Spiderman always got mixed press at best, but he couldn't remember people ever treating the Fantastic Four this way. It made him angry for his friend.

"I think we should get out of here. I don't want to start another fire accidentally."
"Cool it, hot stuff." Anya smirked, the carapace covering her entire body now. She jumped through the flames, landing in a crouch in front of the people.

"Bad news, you keep doing this someone's gonna get hurt. And I don't mean us. Bad news, the more of you get hurt, the better I eat." She made a vicious sound in her throat. "I didn't say it was good news fow you. Now scat."

She bared a claw, leaping toward them. They scattered, throwing assorted rocks and cans at her. But they left.
